A compact building is proposed, positioned on the southern part of the site in order to transform the northern area into a new public square that organizes access both to this new building and to the Corazonistas building, while preserving almost all of the existing trees and vegetation in the northern area.
This position allows the building entrance to be located directly facing this open space, at the convergence of two university urban axes: the axis connecting to the existing Health Sciences Building I and the axis linking to the rest of the campus towards the north.
An unfenced plot is proposed along the street boundary (although fenced along the neighboring plot), so that it may become an urban landmark full of life throughout the year.
The building’s massing steps down progressively in order to create a more approachable and human scale.
Finally, it should be noted that the proposed building respects the Corazonistas building, as it does not exceed its maximum height nor dominate its presence at the corner thanks to the setback. It could be said that both buildings complement each other, as one crowns the corner while the other acts as a backdrop.
